Since 1987 Joni has been an advocate against Domestic Abuse and Gun Violence. As stated earlier on these pages, Joni became an amputee as a result of Domestic Abuse. She was shot by her ex-husband when he came to pick up the kids for the weekend. Throughout the years since 1987 Joni has appeared on several News Broadcasts, Given Speeches, and done radio and TV talk shows. She has also testified before Congress, Met with Senators concerning the Health Care industry, specifically the Prosthetic industry, and helped write a bill for the state of Minnesota concerning the suspension of the right to visitation for convicted abusers. Also a member of the Public Relations Committee.
